Razan J. Fayez was raised in North Carolina where she earned her Baccalaureate Degree from Wake Forest University in 1994, her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1998, and her Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000.
Ms. Fayez began her legal career as the Family Law Attorney at Central Virginia Legal Aid Society where she advised and represented innumerable clients in family abuse, custody, child support and divorce matters. Upon her move to Northern Virginia, she was the Managing Family Law Attorney at the well-known Tahirih Justice Center. It was there that Ms. Fayez was exposed to helping immigrant women navigate the judicial system. In 2009, she became the Managing Family Law Attorney at the Law Offices of Nader Hasan.
Ms. Fayez is well-known for her thorough preparation, trial advocacy, and ability to manage and settle difficult cases. She is also well-known for taking cases with complicated facts and zealously advocating on behalf of her cases when settlement is not possible.
Ms. Fayez’s commitment to using her education and experience as a way to give back to the community began in law school. She was appointed Chair of the Domestic Violence Advocacy Project, Co-Chair of the Interfaith Homeless Project, and a Board Member of the Public Interest Law Foundation. Ms. Fayez pioneered a legal project that assisted domestic violence victims with representation by student attorneys under the supervision of local attorneys and, which project under her leadership, was awarded the “Pro Bono Project of the Year”. Ms. Fayez was further recognized as an “Albert Schweitzer Fellow” and inducted into the Davis Honor Society, one of only eight recognized third year students who have demonstrated not only personal and academic excellence but a willingness to serve for the betterment of the School of Law.
In 2010, Ms. Fayez was awarded the Hope and Justice Award by Fairfax County for her work and outstanding advocacy on behalf of victims of domestic violence. In 2013, Ms. Fayez was a recipient of the Chief Justice Carrico pro bono award.
Ms. Fayez is a Board Member of the Fairfax County Domestic Violence Prevention, Policy and Coordinating Council. Ms. Fayez is certified as a Guardian ad litem and speaks Arabic.
